Family Protection Division
The Family Protection Division is focused on the prevention and prosecution of the crimes that have devastating consequences for families and communities. The Division is comprised of the Domestic Violence, Elder and Disabled Adult Abuse, Educational Neglect, Abandonment and Animal Cruelty Units. The Division also handles Welfare Fraud cases. Each Unit within the Division includes a team of prosecutors, investigators, victim/witness advocates and support staff who investigate and prosecute these crimes and assist victims and witnesses.

The Domestic Violence Unit investigates and prosecutes domestic violence crimes, assists victims with domestic violence related services, and provides training, program and resources to help prevent domestic violence.
Elder and Disabled Adult Abuse Unit
The Elder and Disabled Adult Abuse Unit investigates and prosecutes abuse and fraud against people over the age of 65 and disabled adults, and provides programs and resources to help prevent elder and disabled adult abuse. The Animal Cruelty Unit investigates and prosecutes cases of animal neglect and cruelty, and provides training, programs and resources to help prevent animal cruelty.
The Welfare Fraud section investigates and prosecutes cases of welfare fraud in the Food Stamp, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), and Child Care Benefits programs. More About Welfare Fraud.
