Busy Weekend!

We had a busy weekend here at the Solicitor-General's Office.  Saturday morning, I participated in the 100 Black Men of DeKalb's Justice Day Program.  I presented 20 middle school-aged boys the laws surrounding Theft by Shoplifting and Party to a Crime.  Too often, young people are unaware of how a single decision can change the course of their lives.  In this case, I presented a scenario where four teenagers went to a local shoe store. One teenager encouraged another to hide a jersey in his backpack, one served as lookout, and the fourth teenager refused to particpate.  In the scenario, all four were arrested and the participants had to decide which of the teenagers, if any, were guilty of Theft by Shoplifting.

Saturday afternoon, members of my office and I participated in a Community Clean-up at Hidden Lake, the neighborhoods surrounding Bob Mathis Elementary.

Check out the links below for pictures I posted on my Facebook page.
